History

Industry was founded 9th September 2008, by Andrew Matlock and Tim Nosal. The two were high school classmates who aspired to be game developers of their own epic productions. They banded together and grew a formidable team over the years, earning numerous critical accolades for their commercial and client products.

Industry is located in Kitchener, a city of Waterloo Region, considered to be Canada's premier technology hub and one of its largest cultural centres. With a population of 500,000, it sits west of Toronto by an hour.

EXPANSION

2010 - Client Services department founded, enabling other organizations to 'gamify' themselves, or have custom content created such as music, art, scripts, and photography.

2010 - Film department founded, with an initial mandate to produce independent television pilots.

2011 - Artist Management department founded to exploit a select group of directors, musicians, and writers within our growing entertainment network.

The Name

"Industry" was inspired by a joke which sought to release the students of a game design course; away from academic regulations and into the real video game industry.

Retroactively, it's been fantastic in search engines and for our non-gaming endeavours. It also sounds evil enough to allow for any future goals of world-destruction.

Peer Group

Industry helps host the Waterloo Region Games Peer Group, a quarterly gathering for game developers and game enthusiasts.

The group has brought guest speakers from all over Southern Ontario, in an array of fields from government to finance to computer graphics. To participate, sign up here.
